đź—Ł You Really Should Be Going To Conferences
Last week I went to Circles Conference in Texas
I had a really interesting conversation with Becky Simpson of Chipper Things about writing and having an accountability partner for things like waking up early or being on time to things. After our conversation, I picked up one of her greeting cards and handed her my debit card to pay. The swipe didn’t work. And punching the number in didn’t work, so I offered a different card. She refused and said, "I want you to just have the greeting card. I got a lot out of our chat. It was worth more than $5 to me.” What a kind gesture!
There were a lot of positive things going on there.
Reciprocity
We both provided value through meaningful and engaging conversation… she provided value through a free greeting card… I'm spreading the good vibes and links to her work through this post… what will you do to keep the positivity going?
Customer experience
She could have tried multiple cards over and over again. She could have pointed me in the direction of an ATM to get a few bucks from me. Instead, she saw an opportunity to express gratitude. She graciously gave me the card for free. I left feeling like a million bucks.
A Lasting Impact
Conferences are more than talks, swag and parties. Conversations at conferences can have a lasting impact on you and the people you spend time with.
I spent a lot of time with my friend and business accountability partner, Kyle Adams. We spent hours hustling on our projects at a great local coffee shop. We watched the Apple event together and even woke up at 2 am together to order the iPhone 7 plus!
We Skype every week, but spending a few days in person lead to deeper conversations and a lot more bonding. Most of my friends live hundreds of miles from me, so I treasure the moments I get to see them face-to-face.
And thanks for all the good conversations and hangs over tacos and coffee (not at the same time), friends!
Blend Fest
Speaking of conferences, this is a must-attend conference for motion designers. Last year, the inaugural event was a huge hit. I will definitely be going again.
I'm guessing this will sell out quickly based on the Twitter buzz... so go sign up to get notified (just don't take my ticket ).
I wrote about my experience if you're curious about what to expect :)
