Do Everything You Possibly Can in One Lifetime

austin-saylor-do-everything-possible

I love this Instagram post from DRock (David Rock is GaryVee's videographer).

What do you want to do in one lifetime? What are your big goals? What must you accomplish before you die?

Have you visualized what you want?

Good.

Now I'm going to tell you that it doesn't really matter. Visualizing is about as far as most people get. This is called dreaming. I know because I'm a dreamer. It's easy to lay in bed and dream of all the cool things you could do one day.

What's missing is a plan

You need action steps. You need tasks that get you one step closer every day.

Don't worry at first if your plan isn't perfect. Momentum will carry you a long way.

The cliche is true. You can't steer a parked car.

If you're in this stage right here. The one where you just need to get started, pocket the next section for later.

Just because you're working hard on your plan doesn't mean it's the right plan

What are the most efficient and effective ways to carry out your plan and reach your goal?

How do you know if you have the right plan?

Talk to people who've done something similar. Read books by people who have done something similar. Listen to their podcasts.

When you talk to people, read their books, and listen to podcasts by people who have done something similar to what you want to do, write down any actions you can take. Don't plan on absorbing information and hoping it helps you one day. That's not a very good action plan.

When you have your new action plan based off of proven advice, actually do it. Measure it, test it. Did it work for you? Did you try it long enough? Did you really try it?

Keep what works, toss what doesn't.

Once you're in the groove, once you're getting momentum, start looking for those leaps. There's always a big gap between where you are now and the next big step. How are you going to jump that gap?

There are a couple ways to jump the gap from where you are to where you want to be.

  1. Put in the hours.

10,000 hours.

Be a doer. Be a creator. Be an executor of your ideas.

Put in the hours to get awesome at your thing. Stay up late. Wake up early. Say no Netflix and going out. Earn that next gap jump.

  1. Enlist the help of others.

If you’re looking to build your audience. A fast way to grow your audience is through relationships with people who already have a massive following of people that are related to what you're doing.

There are obviously crappy ways to do this and more noble ways to do this. Take the noble route. But don't confuse noble with weak. You can still hustle with noble relationships.
